Janet graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and a minor in art. She worked with Wachovia Banking Corporation as director of design for their worldwide offices and curator of Wachovia’s corporate art collection. After 16 years in the design field, Janet started Fancy Finishes, a decorative painting business which she owned and operated in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for several years. Oil painting is now her career.
Along with her husband and two golden retrievers, Jan currently lives and maintains studios on Bald Head Island, North Carolina and in Glenville, North Carolina. She has studied with several nationally recognized artists, including Gay Faulkenberry, Timothy C. Tyler, M.Kathryn Massey, Sam Vokey and Robert Liberace.
Her paintings are traditionally representational, and she strives to evoke a timeless elegance in all her work including landscapes, pet portraits and figures as well as her still lifes.
Jan is an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America and a member of Women Painters of the Southeast. Her work has won several awards locally and regionally in the past few years and has appeared in television productions and movies, including Clint Eastwood’s “J. Edgar.” She is represented by several galleries in North Carolina and Virginia.
